Nature based community peer coaching for physicians.

Nature Medicine Coaching Circle

Nature inspired wellbeing, discovery, and learning with your physician peers, facilitated by physician and executive coaches/forest bathing guides.

To be a physician is to navigate change in the healthcare system, to balance our lives with professional demands, to negotiate power, autonomy, personal wellbeing and caregiving, and to realize our powers as agents in shaping the healthcare system.

Logistics and Schedule

3 month program for 12 participants

Week 1: Each person receives link to complete DiSC assessment of individual communication style.

Week 2 at a mutually agreeable time, each person receives an individualized 1:1 60-minute coaching session to enhance effectiveness of personal communication.

Week 3: In person guided Forest Therapy in Arnold Arboretum (2 hours).

Weeks 4 and 5 Virtual facilitated peer one hour group coaching sessions.

Topics are selected based on group preference and include work life balance, setting boundaries for time management, negotiation skills, conflict navigation, developing a personal wellbeing plan.

Week 6 2024: 7:00pm-8:00pm Third (final) virtual one hour peer group coaching session. Wrap-up with post-course resources and offerings for ongoing coaching community.

Nature as Medicine 1.5 CME hours Nov 14 7:00-8:30 pm

Week 8 10:00am-12:00pm: In person guided Forest Therapy experience in Arnold Arboretum - (2 hours).



Cost: $649 pp – eligible for continuing education funds

Our Nature Medicine Coaching Circle is designed specificallly for physicians to support wellbeing, cultivate an individual ‘way of the leader’ through partnership and immersion in nature, discover personal insights through immersion in nature, and acquire new work life skills. This program empowers you with the tools, methods, and inner resources – the ‘how’– to achieve your own balance, wellbeing, boundaries, energy management, and joy.

This 3-month program for 12 participants features immersion experiences in nature for personal awareness and restoration, individual coaching on personal communication styles, and peer cching on a variety of topics tailored to the needs of the group

Coaches and Trainers

Susan Abookire, BSEE, MD, MPH, FACP, an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, is a senior executive with 20 years’ experience leading healthcare organizations. She has served as chief medical officer, system chief quality officer, and Chair of quality and patient safety. Dr. Abookire began her career as an electrical engineer in aviation systems. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Abookire trained at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and practices internal medicine. She received a master’s degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and has taught nationally and internationally on patient safety, high reliability, and systems design. Dr. Abookire has two coaching certifications and teaches and coaches physicians. Dr. Abookire is a certified Forest Therapy guide.

Pam Lowe Cho is a senior executive coach who brings an extensive background to her clients having served as senior communications counselor with Fortune 500 companies, The White House and an international trade association. Pam currently serves as Principal of Trek Executive Coaching, a firm she founded in 2009. She is also a certified Forest Therapy Guide and conducts outdoor leadership and wellness programs for individuals and groups of professionals.
